Nissan Leaf Investigation

Type: Investigations

Product(s): Nissan Leaf, e-NV200 van, NissanConnect EV app

If you own a Nissan Leaf or certain other Nissan electric vehicles and have lost or expect to lose access to app-based features, you may have a legal claim.

Nissan has announced that it will discontinue its NissanConnect EV app at the end of March (2026), which provides remote access to some vehicle features. As a result, certain vehicles that rely on this app, including Nissan Leaf models produced before May 2019 and the e-NV200, are expected to lose access to features such as remote climate control, smart charging capabilities, and certain navigation-related services. While affected vehicles will continue to operate, the discontinuation of the app may eliminate features that were included with the vehicle at the time of purchase and that owners may have reasonably expected to remain available.

Some drivers have reported frustration with the loss of these features, particularly where the vehicles are only a few years old. Others have noted that remote access functionality, including the ability to monitor charging status or pre-condition the vehicle, was a meaningful part of the ownership experience.

As vehicles become increasingly dependent on software and connected services, the discontinuation of app-based functionality raises questions about whether manufacturers can disable features that were marketed or included at the time of sale.
