Wolf Popper Surprise Billing Litigations Featured in NBC News Article on Private Equity Ownership of Healthcare Companies

Firm News | 07/22/22

Wolf Popper and its work litigating six surprise billing class actions were featured in an NBC News’s May 13, 2020 article titled: Private equity firms now control many hospitals, ERs and nursing homes. Is it good for health care? The article discusses the roles of Wolf Popper Partners Emily Madoff and Chet Waldman’s roles in the litigations, and also the settlement of the Bozarth v. Envision Healthcare Corp., a class action pending in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Wolf Popper is lead counsel in the Bozarth litigation. Bozarth alleges that Envision Healthcare Corporation, EmCare Holdings, Inc., and EDS-I Practices of California provided insufficient disclosures regarding out-of-network emergency room doctors at in-network hospitals and then charged excessive rates for emergency services provided by out-of-network doctors.
