Consumer Advocates Ask Court to Declare Unlawful a Trump-era Consumer Financial Protection Board Taskforce and to Block Use of Its Findings

Consumer advocates filed a motion in the United Stated District Court in Boston asking the court to declare that a Trump-era “Taskforce on Federal Consumer Financial Law”  violated the Federal Advisory Committee Act and to bar the use of a report the Taskforce issued in January, 2021 that parrots the financial industry’s agenda to resist consumer financial protections.  Wolf Popper is Massachusetts counsel representing the National Association of Consumer Advocates, U.S. Public Interest Research Group, and consumer law expert Professor Kathleen Engel.  A press release by Democracy Forward Foundation, which is lead counsel on the case, with a link to the filed motion, is here https://democracyforward.org/press/consumer-advocates-urge-court-to-block-use-of-findings-of-unlawful-trump-era-cfpb-taskforce/.
